An unforgettable experience
We had an absolutely wonderful experience with Shadow of Africa from beginning to end. All of our accommodations throughout the trip were excellent. Even in the middle of the wilderness, the team made sure we were comfortable and well taken care of. The lunches prepared by our driver were always incredibly generous and delicious — it was amazing to enjoy such wonderful meals in the middle of the Savanna A very special thank you to our guide, Moody, who was extremely professional, knowledgeable, patient, and attentive throughout the entire safari. Thanks to him, we were able to see the Big Five, as well as an incredible variety of other wildlife. His experience and sharp eyes made every game drive exciting and memorable. A marvellous experience
Our safari experience across the Masai Mara, Serengeti, Ngorongoro, and Amboseli was wonderful—extremely well-organized and packed with a lot of useful tips. Our guides Steven, Zamoo, James were exceptional: highly professional, punctual, and always ready to help. They gave us objective advice on buying souvenirs, shared insights into local traditions and animal behavior, and handled minor and major hiccups like true professionals. The 'escorted' visit to downtown Nairobi was fascinating, though we would highly recommend it to anyone interested in seeing the tough and tragic reality of the less fortunate. A special mention goes to Zamoo whose endless enthusiasm made our long hours in the 4x4 fly by, and whose vast experience allowed us to get up close to so many animals in record time. An Unforgettable Safari Experience with Shadows of Africa
We had an absolutely wonderful experience travelling through Kenya and Tanzania with Shadows of Africa. From the planning stages through to the end of our trip, everything was exceptionally well organized and thoughtfully arranged. Karen was our main point of contact throughout the planning process, and we truly appreciated all her efforts in putting together such a memorable itinerary. She was responsive and helpful, and it was clear that a great deal of thought had gone into ensuring that our trip came together smoothly. We began our safari in Kenya with Julius, who introduced us to our very first safari experience and guided us through the Maasai Mara. He was incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and considerate, and made us feel comfortable from the very beginning. He gave us a wonderful introduction to the safari experience and helped make the start of our trip truly memorable. In Tanzania, we spent most of our safari days with Emmanuel, and we could not have been happier with the experience. We were fortunate enough to see the Big Five multiple times, which was absolutely incredible! Emmanuel was knowledgeable, friendly, patient, and had a wonderful sense of humour. Spending several days exploring with him was a genuine pleasure, and his expertise and enthusiasm made every game drive enjoyable and memorable. Even our transfer guides, including Nixon, were wonderful. Everyone we encountered was friendly and welcoming, and Nixon took the time to point out Mount Kilimanjaro and other interesting sights along the way, which we greatly appreciated. The entire trip was beautifully planned. The accommodations were outstanding, the food was delicious, and the overall itinerary provided a wonderful balance of safari experiences, travel, and relaxation. Everything came together seamlessly, allowing us to simply enjoy the experience. The only area where we felt there was room for improvement was with the airport pickup. After a long and exhausting journey, we would have appreciated it if our flight had been tracked and our guide had been ready and waiting by the time we exited the airport. Having to wait for the pickup after such a long journey was the only minor inconvenience we experienced during an otherwise exceptional trip. Overall, we had an incredible and unforgettable experience and are very grateful to Karen, Julius, Emmanuel, Nixon, Evanz, and the entire Shadows of Africa team for making our trip so special. We would happily recommend Shadows of Africa to anyone planning a safari in Kenya and Tanzania!

Big Five, Ugly Five and much more
A once in a life-time experience and our driver guide Godwin made it a smooth ride. Of course there where things he could not help, but explaining, that the the holes in the dirt roads were part of the African massage made it more enjoyable. We always felt secure during the ride. Using his five senses and a good communication with other guides he helpes us see all the big five. He explained the ugly five and showed them to us as well. And he opened our eyes for many small details including plants and other hard to find animals like the serval cat. He told us about the history of the land and its friendly and cheerfull people despite of the often harsh conditions they life in. We really enjoyed his humor and modesty. What an unforgetable journey! Five stars deserved. Hakuna matata!

Amazing safari with the best guide
It was a spectacular safari, especially because of the guide with whom we did it, who at all times provided us with a kind, comfortable journey, attentive to our needs, and not a single animal or special scene to look at escaped him. The best adventure with the greatest safety thanks to GERARD.

Amazing trip through Tanzania!
We’ve just come back from a fantastic trip through Tanzania with Shadows of Africa. Liz worked with us to put the itinerary together and really understood the kind of trip we were looking for. It gave us a great mix of wildlife, different landscapes and some less usual experiences. We started in Mkomazi, which was a real highlight. It’s quiet and beautiful, and we were lucky enough to see black rhino. We were especially lucky when we suddenly found ourselves surrounded by elephants! We then travelled through Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro and the Serengeti, before heading to Kigoma and Gombe to be with the chimpanzees. Gombe was amazing and one of the most memorable parts of the whole trip. For most parts, Eugene was our guide and driver and was great company throughout. He knows an incredible amount about the animals and places we visited, and he always seemed to know when to stop, where to go and what to look out for. He is the king of spotting animals and getting us to see them! A big thank you to Liz, Eugene and the team. We’ll remember this trip for a long time.

Wonderful Safari in Kenya and Tanzania
We have had an absolutely wonderful Safari experience in Kenya and Tanzania with Shadows of Africa. Alona helped us enormously throughout the planning process. She was very patient in responding to our many questions! We chose a range of accommodation options and they were all brilliant. The logistics went very smoothly. We learnt a lot about all the animals and their environment from our three guides, Martin, Moody and Martin. We were very impressed with their ability to always position us well to get the best viewing experience. At river crossings to see the migration of wildebeests and when seeing a pride of lions and cheetahs, and a leopard in a tree. Also, to see herds of Elephants wallowing in a swamp. We highly recommend Shadows of Africa.

Excellent Tanzania safari experience
My husband and I travelled with our young adult sons. It was an amazing 6 day fly in/fly out safari which included Tarangire, Central and Northern Serengeti. Jake created the perfect itinerary - our days were full, but we also had enough down time each evening to rest up for our adventures the next day. Accomodations were excellent. Our driver/guide, Frank, was extremely knowledgeable, experienced. and personable. He had eagle eyes, and he always made sure we were able to capture every wildlife sighting possible. I can’t say enough good things about our experience.

Wonderful safari in Kenya and Tanzania
Fantastic 14 day safari in Kenya and Tanzania. Our guides were very knowledgeable and worked hard to ensure we had a lovely trip and saw all there was to see - including 2 wildebeest crossings of the Mara River, lions and cubs, cheetahs etc and even a leopard. Alona was very helpful and responsive when planning our adventure and the mix of accommodation we chose based on her recommendations was great. Very highly recommend Shadows of Africa for Kenya and Tanzania.

Unsere Safari mit Shadows of Africa war mit Abstand eine der besten Entscheidungen unserer gesamten Tansania-Reise – und wir würden es jederzeit wieder genauso machen! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Schon die Planung mit Laura war einfach perfekt. Sie hat für uns eine wunderschöne Safari zusammengestellt, die genau zu unseren Vorstellungen gepasst hat – inklusive toller Lodges, Verpflegung, Flügen und Flughafentransfers. Von Anfang an war Laura unglaublich lieb, herzlich, hilfsbereit und zuverlässig. Wir konnten wirklich alles fragen, auch wenn es gar nichts direkt mit der Safari zu tun hatte, und sie hat uns immer weitergeholfen. Man hatte nie das Gefühl, mit seinen Fragen alleine gelassen zu werden. 🥰 Und dann kam unsere absolute Traum-Safari! 🦁🐘🦒 Unser Guide Victor war einfach der allerbeste Guide, den wir uns hätten wünschen können. ❤️ Er hat wirklich jeden unserer Wünsche ernst genommen und alles dafür getan, sie zu erfüllen. Dabei war er nicht nur unglaublich kompetent, sondern auch immer fröhlich, herzlich, geduldig und hilfsbereit. Victor hat uns unglaublich viel über die Tiere, die Natur und die Umgebung erzählt und uns außerdem viel über die Kultur und die Sprache Tansanias beigebracht. Sein Wissen war beeindruckend und man hat jeden Tag gemerkt, wie sehr er seinen Beruf liebt. Was ihn für uns aber ganz besonders gemacht hat: Er war nicht einfach nur unser Guide – er wollte wirklich, dass wir glücklich sind. 🥹❤️Er hat immer sein Bestes gegeben und war selbst glücklich, wenn wir es waren. Genau das hat unsere Safari so besonders und persönlich gemacht. Wir würden uns ohne jede Frage wieder für Shadows of Africa und ganz besonders wieder für Victor entscheiden! Die gesamte Organisation, die Kommunikation, die Unterkünfte und natürlich die Safari selbst waren einfach fantastisch. Es war eine einmalige Erfahrung, die wir niemals vergessen werden.
