A Land of Adventure and Natural Wonders

From breathtaking waterfalls to world-class safaris, explore Zimbabwe’s most iconic destinations.

National Parks & Reserves of Zimbabwe

Like many African nations, Zimbabwe is home to the distinctive wildlife that has made Africa such an immensely popular destination for nature lovers.
In Hwange National Park and Mana Pools National Park, Zimbabwe has game drive destinations to rival anything you will find in Tanzania, South Africa, or Kenya. The nation is home to the entirety of the Big Five, and is an especially good spot to find elephants.
With eight national parks to choose from, there are plenty of varying landscapes and wildlife experiences to be had. Of particular interest will be walking safaris and canoe safaris, which Zimbabwean national parks do especially well.

Wildlife of Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe is a Big Five game viewing destination – meaning that its parks and reserves are home to elephants, cape buffalo, lions, leopards, and the endangered black and white rhinoceros.
In addition to these iconic animals, you’ll also find other popular safari sightings such as giraffes, zebras, hyenas, wildebeest, hippos, cheetahs, and a large variety of antelopes. A more than 500 species of mammals, and 131 species of fish, reside within Zimbabwe. For those wanting to see something a little different, Zimbabwe is home to less commonly sighted animals including the sable antelope, African wild dogs, bat-eared foxes, and brown hyenas, blue duikers, camango monkeys.
Bird watchers will find plenty to occupy them as well, as Zimbabwe is home to more than 685 species of bird life including hornbills, turacos, snipes, and bee-eaters. One third of the world eagle population is in Matobo National Park.

Canoeing Safaris

A canoe safari offers a refreshing and immersive alternative to the traditional game drive, replacing the safari vehicle with the gentle movement of water and the sounds of nature all around you. As you glide quietly along winding rivers and calm channels, you enter the heart of the wilderness in a way that feels both intimate and deeply peaceful.
This slower pace brings you remarkably close to a rich variety of water-dwelling wildlife. Hippos surface just metres away, crocodiles bask along the riverbanks, and an incredible diversity of birdlife fills the air with color and sound. The stillness of the canoe allows you to observe without disturbance, creating rare, up-close encounters that feel completely natural and unfiltered. Along the shoreline, scenes of daily life unfold in full view. Elephant families gather to drink and bathe in the shallows, buffalo herds graze calmly nearby, and antelope move cautiously through the reeds. Even predators can be spotted resting in the shade, conserving energy as they wait for cooler hours to return.
Perfect as a complement to a classic game drive, it adds depth and contrast to any safari journey, offering a rare perspective on Africa’s wildlife and the ecosystems that sustain it.

Victoria Falls

For many travellers, Victoria Falls is the first image that comes to mind when thinking of Zimbabwe. Known as the world’s largest single sheet of falling water, this breathtaking natural wonder captivates visitors with its sheer scale, thunderous power, and mist that rises high into the sky like smoke. Locally known as “The Smoke That Thunders,” Victoria Falls is not only a sight to behold but an experience that engages all the senses.
A visit here goes far beyond a simple photo opportunity. Adventurous travelers can take to the skies on scenic helicopter flights, feeling the full scale of the falls from above, or head into the gorge for adrenaline-filled white-water rafting on the Zambezi River. Sunset cruises offer a more relaxed perspective, where wildlife gathers along the riverbanks as the sky turns gold and orange.
For the truly daring, a swim at the edge of the falls in the famous Devil’s Pool provides a once-in-a-lifetime thrill, with the roaring cascade just steps away. Whether viewed from above, below, or right on the river, Victoria Falls delivers an unforgettable blend of beauty, power, and adventure.
